i like denzel too, but what i like most about him has little to do with acting. ; )
i'd like to see him take on a role that's a bit outside of the box. with the exception of the very excellent Forrest Whitaker, it seems that few black actors get hired for unconventional roles.

Have you heard of www.listography.com yet? Good for list makers. I'm hooked on it. Also Edward Norton in Painted Veil = smoldering! Insanely so.

I'd add Christian Bale in Batman Begins.
The first actor to play not just the guy in the bat suit, but the trouble man in the regular suit as well.
And Clive Owen in Children of Men. Regular guy pulled into the battle for humanity.
And Clive Owen as Dwight in Sin City.
Yeah, it doesn't hurt that these guys both have the tall/dark/handsome thing goin' on.
Denzel?
Hey Wanette, for Denzel "out of the box" you need to see TRAINING DAY.
He got the Oscar for that one because the year that movie was out, he was also in John Q, which was a more "Denzel" like role.
In Training Day, he showed everyone that he is an ACTOR.
Me? I love Tom Hanks...and I'm waiting for him to show me his Dark Side like Harrison Ford did in "What Lies Beneath".
